Rise and Restore

This foundation is run by young leaders who want to create positive change.

Our mission

One of the founding principles of this organization is that it was established by high school students and family members who have themselves experienced what it is like to have a loved one suffering from an eating disorder that is affected by the negative cultural beauty standards for Asians. We aim to address mental health and the effects of social media, family messaging, and pernicious beauty products. This applies to skin whitening creams and other forms of beauty trends directed specifically towards young Asian girls, highlighting the importance of understanding eating disorders in relation to their cultural roots and the promotion of their prevention through education and support.

As the initiative led by youths, we are dedicated to combatting unrealistic beauty beliefs and preventing the mental and physical impact that they may trigger. We firmly believe that real change in this regard begins with open communication, greater cross-cultural understanding, and giving the next generation the opportunities they need to define their own beauty.

Redefining Beauty. Reclaiming Health.
